Scallop Shell and Nautical Stripes Necklace with Handmade Beads from Foraged Glass

Scallop Shell and Nautical Stripes Necklace with Handmade Beads from Foraged Glass

£90.00
Cord colour

This striking handmade glass bead necklace is created with found glass foraged from River Exe estuary beaches.

Each hand sculpted bead has subtle differences in texture, finish and shape, but with the rhythm of repeated forms, mimicking the variety and continuity found in nature.

The stripes on these beads is inspired by walking the foreshore, looking for tracks and pathways to follow, navigating by tidal streams and the impressions in the silt left by river waves. The shape by the ridges of shells and the layered shapes of the cliffs, with an imperfect rhythm that tells the tale of their unique journey through time.

Made in brown brown, amber and white, the beads are formed from a range of reclaimed glass, including from apothecary bottles, vintage marmite bottles, bovril bottles, and milk glass from cosmetics jars, pieces of which come to me on the tides of the Exe.

The beads are threaded onto a leather cord, finished with handworked glass toggles and joined with a sliding clasp also made with glass.

Choose from black leather cord or tan using the drop down list.

Each necklace comes packed in a raw cotton drawstring bag, finished with handmade beads on the drawstring.

Each necklace is handmade to order, and will take 3 weeks from order to dispatch.

The full cord length is 90cm. Each individual bead is between 9mm and 1.5mm, arranged by size.

Not suitable for children, small parts may be a choking hazard.
